The Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Saudi Arabian Chapter (IEP-SAC) arranged a family picnic on Friday, Feb the 10th in Riyadh. Scores of Pakistani engineers residing in Riyadh attended the event along with their families. The newly built venue was chosen in Muzahimiyah to let people enjoy the traveling and landscape. It was a full day event filled with fun, entertainment, games and amusement. There were activities for every age group and kept the families engaged for the whole day.
Several dignitaries from the Embassy of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia attended the event along with their families. The event was organized to provide a much-needed break to all family members from routine life. Children were enthralled to compete in various games organized. Youth had a chance to burn their energies in Cricket, table tennis and several other group activities. Large crowds were gathered to watch the teams compete in Cricket tournament, tug of war and musical chair. Poetic and literary values mesmerized the participants during the Musha’era and Quiz competition. Female section was ever energetic with games, performance, riddles, jokes and enjoyment for all age groups.
The event started with a traditional breakfast served in Pakistani cultural style which was well taken by the participants. As the flux of the arriving families grew so did the momentum of the event, and reached its climax after Juma prayer when all the planned activities started. The aroma of the Asian spices and mouth-watering BBQ had caught the attention of everyone before the lunch was served. Small groups having lunch on the grass, tables and convenient places chattering on various topics was an absorbing scene. Special arrangements were made to serve traditional “Paan” to the people.
The concluding session was organized after Maghrib prayer. The general secretary of IEPSAC, Engr S M Iqbal reiterated the need to participate in IEPSAC engineering students’ scholarship program covering 12 Pakistani universities. Numerous gifts were given to the winners of children and adult games and competitions. Lucky draw winners received loads of gifts from prestigious sponsors. IEP-SAC council thanked the sponsors for their generous support for the event and for all other IEP activities. The chairman of IEP-SAC, Engr Mubashir Hussain Kirmani, thanked all the participants and sponsors and council members for making it a memorable event. People left this annual event with the memories they would cherish.
